Tax Tips 2004 - Do You Need a CPA?
If you have a complicated tax return, you may want to hire an expert to help you. Timely advice today from noted consumer expert Clark Howard.
"Having a professtional to do your taxes for you is something that I do recommend and you want to know how long has the person been practicing, how much have they done in terms of tax work, your kind of situation. If you have a business, have they ever handled taxes for a business like yours. The more they have experience in what you want to do the better they are going to be for you."
Clark also says hire the type of CPA that fits with your approach.
"Are you somebody who likes to cut corners, who likes to play it a little "loose" with the IRS? Come CPA's are going to have the personality that is going to fit you for that. Others are going to play it straight by the book, so you have to find someone whose philosophies are similar to your own."
